ENDORSEMENT

Rule 275 provides for the licensure of persons holding a current license in another state or a foreign country.  This process is called ENDORSEMENT.

Any person who holds a certificate or license in good standing in another state or a foreign country, and that state or foreign country has similar requirements to Idaho's (including therapeutic privileges), and who has been engaged in the practice of optometry continuously for not less than the last five (5) years, may apply to the Board for an Idaho license to practice optometry.

The following conditions must be met by all applicants:

a.  Submit a complete application accompanied by the required fee; and

b.  Attach an unmounted 3" x 3" photograph, head and shoulders only, taken within one (1) year prior to the date of making the application; and

c.  Enclose complete transcript of credits from any college of optometry attended; and

d.  Enclose photocopies of any diplomas granted by any college of optometry; and

e.  Provide certified results establishing successful passage of the required examinations. The written and the practical portions of the Idaho examination shall be all parts of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry Examination and the "Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases" examination approved by the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry, Inc. (ARBO). A passing grade on both examinations shall be necessary before obtaining a license to practice Optometry in Idaho; and

f.  Complete and return the Idaho law examination.

Only fully completed applications accompanied by appropriate documents shall be reviewed by the Board.
